Investing in Eternity   How Will You Spend or Invest Your Life?   LIFE! For those reading today, we are blessed with it! It's precious, valuable, and a fresh canvas for each and every day. And like Tony Evan says @ the link below, we are all stewards to protect and expand our assets for good purposes. We share 3 things: 1) TIME  - a boundary where OPPORTUNITIES exist. 2) TALENTS  and abilities to do great things in this world. Sure, our talents are all different but we are all a part of a whole BIGGER PICTURE. 3) TREASURES  - Various resources for doing business and life. So, my question for you today is: What are you doing with your TIME, TALENTS, AND TREASURES to make a meaningful difference in this world? Life? Business? Your family? Your future? Adoption and Childcare: The Gift of Nina

Image
Adoption and Childcare:  The Gift of Nina I imagine myself as a teen growing up in a children’s home, wondering if and when anyone will come and  rescue me. Do you ever think what that must be like to be without a family and a home? I’ve worked with many adoption agencies, children’s homes, and orphanages over the years as a volunteer.  And the greatest joy for me is seeing a child adopted by a forever family. The moment when the family and the child come together is the greatest gift. For those kids who never get adopted, you see the disappointment, heartache, and sadness in their eyes,  even in the children with the very best attitudes. Our Nina was nearly a teen when we first met her, and now, she has a loving husband and three “babies” of  her own. And we adopted her as a family much later than we wish we could have. But just having that family connection makes us whole. I encourage you today to help with the great cause in any way you can…. some of t...

Jesus, King of All Kings

Image
My Boss is Jesus by Galen D. Herbic Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.1 Peter 4:10 Working from a virtual office, I often experience odd glances and confusing questions about how I earn an income. I dress professional most the time; however with a flexible schedule depending on prospect and client meetings I sometimes have a dedicated “work from home” day. One thing is for certain, I’ve developed a mentality that I truly use gifted skill sets to work for Jesus. This inspires me to blend volunteer service with a corporate sales career. Jesus is The Boss so that whatever I have and will receive is really of Him and for His kingdom.  My adopted children understand although daddy doesn’t work in a church building, he’s behaving as Jesus commands. From my experience, all children need this guidance, especially adopted children who require more direction at times. It seems the emot...

Teachers Appreciation: Adopting Our Teachers

Image
Teachers Appreciation: Adopting Our Teachers by Teresa J. Herbic Be still and know that I am God! Psalm 46:10, NIV Teachers are forever influences in children’s lives. They produce a genuine impact on our future. An African proverb conveys this: “it takes a village to raise a child.” The importance of a community in molding a young person’s values is irrefutable. Our history of adopting our children’s teachers is fact. Both my daughter and son shared the same kindergarten and second grade teachers, each of whom influenced their creative and active minds. Our kids also experienced disciplinarians for their third grade years. We would not have survived those critical years without them. Then, there were coaches like our daughter’s violin teacher and our son’s football coach who devoted themselves to shaping character. Each realized our kids were adopted and the challenges they faced. Our remarkable music teacher has been a constant throughout their entire school years, Mrs. Walker....

Healing from Breast Cancer: God's Remedy

Image
Breast Cancer Healing: God's Remedy Rocky takes a hiatus from boxing to stay by Adrian’s side and take care of his wife. When she awakes, he is right there next to her. They chat, and Rocky tells her he’s going to quit boxing as she didn’t want him to continue anyway. Then, she looks at him after waking from a coma and says the most inspirational thing: “There’s one thing I want you to do for me: WIN!” I played that scene over and over in my mind, “WIN!” \Breast Cancer Healing: God's Remedy That’s what we have to do is pivot our mind from being down and out to victory. Sometimes, I replay the scene of the crucifixion where Jesus was dying on the cross for our sins. Jesus paid the ultimate price. He claimed the Ultimate Win, although for Him it a torturous, pure bloody, and horrifying suffering. \For us, it became victory as He died for our sins and rose again. With Our Savior, through Him and His shed blood on the cross, we too can Win. After finding out the diagnosis of BC, ...

Mercy and Compassion

Image
Mercy and Compassion... Meaningful Revelations By Teresa J. Herbic   For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” Romans 9:15, NIV 1984   One of the common expressions of adoptive children is through music and art. My son can draw his ideas, thoughts, and feelings on paper for hours. One day when sketching his superheroes collection, he halted. I could tell his mind held deep thoughts. He spoke up as if he had a revelation.  “Mom, if you and dad hadn’t adopted me and brought me here, I would have never known about Jesus!”  That spiritual breakthrough gave him peace. “Yes, that’s quite an understanding!”  I smiled.  “You’re probably right. I’m really glad, Son, that we have Jesus. I’m so happy he brought us together!” “Yeah, me, too,”  he returned a gentle smile. God has a simple way of reminding us that mercy, and steps taken for Christ, are often the ones that return...

Do Not Fear, Only Believe

Image
Do Not Fear - Only Believe :-) I rejoice today– as a few years ago I had a massive tumor removed from my brain, followed by the quick and miraculous healing of breast cancer. Whenever you are afraid or weak, remember there’s a verse in Mark 5:36 which reminds us not to fear or be anxious, only believe! When a man asked the Lord to come and heal his twelve-year-old daughter, he believed Jesus could heal her. Then she died, and he sent message to the Lord to not bother coming as she had passed. That was when Jesus stepped up in all of His glory and revitalized the young girl to life again. God is in the miracle business! May God bless you with a mighty miracle in this day :-) Picture Compliments: Pixabay

His Abundant Gifts

Image
His Abundant Gifts By Teresa J. Herbic But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33, NIV   Distinct, awe-inspiring, Hopeful, encouraging, News; Mindful, playful, Soulful, truthful, Real! His hand, His plan, His child, His revelation, A child intended, The fruit of life, An adoption, And outpouring of His Spirit, A gift of Godly proportion.   Thank You Jesus for as we seek Your righteousness, You provide in our lives,  families and futures. Thank You for Your abundant gifts.

God's Affection for Us

Image
God's Affection for Us Twice the Affection by Teresa J. Herbic Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! 2 Corinthians 9:15, NIV Our first summer as a married couple, we visited the zoo in Topeka, Kansas.  There, we saw the cutest giraffes crossing their necks with one another. The sight, forever engraved into my mind, became the inspiration for our daughter’s room years later. We couldn’t help but think how adorable those giraffes would look painted in the corner.  I often search for bonds like that in people. Like the one I see in twins as they dress alike as young children or the unity that follows a brother and sister adopted together. Their connection is one of pure resilience. The affection that unites people and even animals, as in the case of the giraffes, can only be a gift of God's affection for us. As in the case of twins, it is a miracle. That gift is indescribable and everlasting. As we share bonds with others throughout our lives, the imprint...

Helping Abandoned Babies (of All Ages!)

Image
Nurturing the Abandoned and Helping Abandoned Babies (of all ages!) by Teresa J. Herbic (as told by adoptive parents) I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2 Born in the rural villages of northern China, Lilly was referred to our family as an older child. We felt enthused to know that we would be adopting again. Our first child, also from China, came as a real blessing. Now, we would travel again to a whole different region unknown to our family. We arrived there and the driver took us for a long arduous drive into the rural hills. This felt dissimilar to our previous trip to metropolitan Southern china. Our hotel was a dump as compared to the five-star resort we stayed in years prior. The region comprised of rundown one-room shacks and dilapidated structures stood out as impoverished and depressed. We received our daughter there a day later. It came as a shock as Lilly was covered ...
