Barnes and Noble Event to Support Orchestra Talent

Image
Thanks @BNBuzz and all Johnson High School Orchestra supporters who came out this weekend to the Orchestra performance and book signing at Barnes and Noble Northwoods San Antonio! It was a gorgeous event, all praise to Jesus! I enjoyed meeting various locals and praying with some special people. Please continue to support the orchestra by going to Barnes and Noble this week and referencing "The Johnson High School Orchestra." A portion of your purchase, including all "Family Prayer Made Easy" book purchases, will go directly to support this great group of musicians and its lovely conductor Ms. Karen George! http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/family-prayer-made-easy-teresa-j-herbic/1123660191?ean=9781629117386

Prayer for the Orphans this Christmas

Image
As Jeff Bridges recently said, "Poverty is a complex issue, but feeding a child isn't" According to our friends at Food for Orphans, nearly 400,000 orphans starve to death every year, and one sixth of the world's population goes to bed hungry every day. Please join us in praying for the hungry and the hurting of our world today. Imagine being a child all alone, fending for yourself on the streets, feeling like an outcast and unable to find nourishment for your starving body. There are about 147 million orphans worldwide. Two of those once-orphaned babies are my adopted kiddos. I'm thankful that more and more people are stepping up to adopt and foster children here and abroad, but the problem goes further to the areas where children are living on the streets, homeless and in need. In some countries, children can not be adopted out legally so what happens to those babies? Please consider the orphans this year. Our friend Gary at Food for Orphans continues

PASTOR'S BROTH FOR THOUGHT from Our Dear Friend Pastor Emil Bartos, Peace Lutheran Church No person is a failure who has friends.   To have people you can trust and depend on is a most meaningful part of life.   St. John the Evangelist puts it this way, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13 ESV).   This Jesus has done, and he is our greatest friend.   Take a moment today to thank God for your friends. Please share this consideration with all your contacts: family members and neighbors, friends and acquaintances near and far: Facebook and Twitter, e-mails and walls, blogs, texts and other online contacts. Ask for their input on this consideration, and be sure to share that this is a part of our ministry here at Peace Lutheran Church, Hollister.

God Unites and Places His Hand Over Family throughout one of the Deadliest Tornadoes in U.S. History

Image
True Story of My Precious Family in Joplin, MO:   “Families that Pray Together, Stay Together – No Matter Where They are and No Matter What Storm Rises…”             Many of our family members live in Joplin, Missouri where the deadliest tornado in over half a century struck the United States. As the storm erupted forcefully, we became frantic for our cousins, aunts and uncles and grandfather’s safety. Imagine everything in its path being utterly destroyed by a raging tornado. From the midst of a harsh and violent storm, this story shows the power of God’s protection. For our cousins Preston and Sherry and family, it seemed like an ordinary weekend with the exception of a lake getaway. Being able to spend both Saturday and Sunday there proved rare. Their oldest son just graduated high school and left for his senior trip that weekend. Their oldest teen daughter and younger son stayed home and walked to the park where their church held a picnic. When the event ended, they
