   by Teresa J. Herbic Once I was lost, but now am found,  “Amazing Grace,”  John Newton Childhood can be a life-directing time for us. Some have an abundant, happy childhood, while others barely survive. Some of you may remember John Newton, best known for writing one of history’s most deeply moving hymnals,  “Amazing Grace.”  You may know the story of his inspiration to write the song, however, many are not familiar with his childhood struggles. By age six, John hit a rough patch of vast affliction. His mother, an exceptionally spiritual woman, lost her life to tuberculosis. His father, a ship commander, sent John away to boarding school shortly after when he remarried. At school, John suffered mistreatment. He also felt all alone like an orphan. So at age eleven, John rejoined his father on board his father’s ship. Later, he boarded a different ship, one that ran the Sierra Leone coast. There, he served as a slave trader. It turned out to be a horrendous experience for John. He was

                             God’s Will and Not Our Own… And with it: a “Season of Miracles” Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world,  but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2   On occasion, we wonder why God’s will doesn’t seem to match our own. This can be the case with any of the frustrations, sorrows, and uncertainties of life. Let’s face it, Friends and Family, today—there are many weariness symptoms of life.   Did you know that Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson struck out 2,600 times in his baseball career?  That's the most in the history of baseball! WE DON'T REMEMBER the strike outs because Jackson never gave up, and he was always a valuable leader on the team. WE DO REMEMBER, however, all the (563) homeruns as Denzel Washington describes in this talk to University of Pennsylvania grads. For 14 seasons, Jackson was named an American League All Star. He also achieved the Most Valuable Player Award after knocking out of the park 3 home runs to clinch his most recent World Series Win. Jackson even earned a Babe Ruth Award.      Freedom in Jesus by Galen D. Herbic Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.1 Peter 4:10 Working from a virtual office, I often experience odd glances and confusing questions about how I earn an income. I dress professional most the time; however with a flexible schedule depending on prospect and client meetings I sometimes have a dedicated “work from home” day. One thing is for certain, I’ve developed a mentality that I truly use gifted skill sets to work for Jesus. This inspires me to blend volunteer service with a corporate sales career. Jesus is The Boss so that whatever I have and will receive is really of Him and for His kingdom.  My adopted children understand although daddy doesn’t work in a church building, he’s behaving as Jesus commands. From my experience, all children need this guidance, especially adopted children who require more direction at times. It seems the emotional stabil
